Opal’s liner papers are the foundation of high‑performance corrugated packaging. Manufactured at our Australian mills, these grades are engineered for stacking strength, durability, and high‑quality print surfaces. The range spans from heavy‑duty kraft solutions for demanding environments to cost‑effective recycled options for everyday packaging.

Product description

Our liner range provides tailored solutions for specific packaging needs. Whether you require maximum humidity resistance for cold‑chain logistics, premium smoothness for high‑impact graphics, or recycled content for sustainability goals, Opal has a liner grade to suit.

AP Kraft Liner

Grammage: 120, 140, 165 g/m²

  • Blend of kraft pulp, semi‑chemical (NSSC) pulp, and ~20% recycled fibre in back ply.
  • Higher grammages are calendared for smoother print surfaces.
  • Enhanced containment over recycled grades.
  • Applications: Dangerous goods, direct food contact (dry/peeled/washed), performance packaging where kraft appearance is required.
High Performance Kraft Liner

Grammage: 127, 165, 200, 225, 250 g/m²

  • High‑performance virgin fibre blend with semi‑chemical pulp.
  • Superior high‑humidity and creep resistance.
  • Enhanced stacking strength through CD Ring Crush and Short‑span Compression Test performance.
  • Low Cobb on both sides of the sheet.
  • Applications: Bulk bins, dangerous goods, fruit & vegetables, cold chain, direct food contact (dry, non‑fatty).
Recycled Liner

Grammage: 120, 135 g/m²

  • 100% recycled fibre (≥70% OCC, mixed industrial; no household raw material).
  • High cleanliness and uniform colour.
  • Good printability and consistent formation.
  • Applications: Shelf‑ready packaging, ambient/dry conditions, single‑use FMCG packaging.
Premium Recycled Liner

Grammage: 160, 185, 205 g/m²

  • 100% recycled fibre with superior strength in ambient and high‑humidity conditions.

  • ≥30% higher burst/tensile and ≥15% higher ring crush/internal bond strength than standard recycled liner at equivalent grammage.

  • Applications: Dangerous goods, fruit & vegetables, protein, frozen & cold chain, direct contact with aqueous and fatty food types stored at room temperature.

Plasterboard Liner

Grammage: 165, 200 g/m²

  • Typically, a recycled liner designed for plasterboard facing.
  • Developed for high surface quality and bond strength
  • Applications: Facing liner for plasterboard manufacturing.

Opal’s sack kraft papers are manufactured for high performance in demanding filling, handling, and transportation environments. Produced at our Maryvale Mill from virgin kraft fibre, these papers combine high tensile strength, controlled stretch, and tailored porosity to deliver exceptional bag performance.

Bag paper

Lightweight yet durable paper designed for bags in retail, grocery, and food service. Includes recycled and virgin kraft grades, flat sack variants, and custom options for print and performance.

Medium paper

Opal’s corrugating medium papers provide the internal fluted structure that delivers strength, cushioning, and rigidity in corrugated packaging.
